Nichol Vineyards – Pinot Gris 2010

Nichol Vineyards Pinot Gris 2010. Click here to print as a shelf talker.

Nichol Vineyards Pinot Gris is one of the few Pinot Gris’s from BC that has a pinkish hue from the skins.  This wine spent 30 hours sitting on the skins extracting colour and flavour.  Too much skin contact and the wine can pick up bitter and off flavours but this wine is full of citrus, and stone fruits.  The palate starts with an expressive entry full of peaches and apricots while holding an oiliness on the mid-palate and a clean long finish. Nice balance of acidity, weight, flavour, and finish. I would love to see more BC Pinot Gris’s have this structure.  462 cases made and currently sold out.  If you have any in your cellar, enjoy over the next couple years.  I know it will last longer, but unless your a fan of lost elegance like myself, drink up.
